ALGINATE is a fine white powder which becomes creamy when mixed with water, allowing to make very precise prints. Alginate is softer than plaster, does not irritate the skin and comes off easily.

HOW TO USE: Dose Alginate and cold water depending on the type of work and setting time desired. Mix quickly, in order to avoid lumps, until you get a yogurt-like consistency. Keep the nostrils clear and apply a thick coating of Alginate on the skin and then lay down several layers of plaster bandage until the thickness reaches as least 5 mm. Once dry, Alginate and bandages will form a rigid shell. The prints obtained this way will be used as a female mold. Add less water for a denser texture and a mold that will set more quickly. Add more water for a mold that will set more slowly.

If the mixture is too liquid, add Alginate and stir vigorously until a consistent texture is obtained. Apply Alginate to the part to be molded immediately. Be careful : the mixture dries instantly. Once hard, it cannot be used! Use a paint mixer when larger quantities are needed. To make Alginate set more slowly, add a few ice cubes to the water. Inversely, dip the plaster bandages into lukewarm water for a faster setting.
