Scott's
It all starts back in 1873. Alfred B. Scott sets off for New York City with his partner Samuel W. Bowne in search of a new preparation method that will give cod liver oil a more agreeable taste. After a year of productive experimentation, they finally put their names to ‘Scott & Bowne’s Palatable Castor Oil’. With a much-improved flavour, it’s successfully introduced to Australia in 1883 and, later in the same decade, to Japan, China and India. During the 1890s, the two entrepreneurs establish factories in Canada, England, Spain, Portugal, Italy and France, whilst advertising ‘Scott’s Emulsion’ across the Americas, Europe and Asia. In the early twentieth century, people begin to use Scott’s Emulsion, on account of a growing reputation for its health-giving properties.
During the 1920s, the everyday practice of giving kids a daily dose of cod liver oil begins to take off in the US, after it’s found to be one of the richest natural sources of Vitamins A and D. In the 1950s, ‘the glow of health’ becomes the line used to advertise the product.
Trusted by generations of moms for over a century, Scott’s Emulsion remains a family favourite to this day. Alongside our range of other vitamin and mineral supplements, it helps moms all over the world feel confident that they’re supporting their children’s healthy growth and development.
